One More Time

ONE MORE TIME
words and music by Shellen Lubin

Your name kept going in and out of my old address book
So much I just used pencil to write it
I braved my new pen this time but the ink barely took
Before you'd run from me again as if to spite it

So one more time I'm scratching out your number
One more time they ask me and I say
"Yes, there's still a way back
We just slipped off the track
And we always find a way"

The first time it was you because I needed much too much
The second time was me 'cause you'd grown cruel
The third and fourth went back and forth, regrets then bets and such
As to who'd run first and who'd be left the fool

Now one more time I'm scratching out your number
One more time they ask and I reply
"Yes, there's still a way back
We just slipped off the track
And we never said goodbye"

I thought by now I'd had enough, it was really just as well
I'd let it roll away and cut the loss
But fate and love have winding ways, they can't keep parallel
And many times again they'll join and cross

So one more time I'm scratching out your number
One more time I think of you and find
Yes, there's still a way back
We just slipped off the track
But our mainlines are entwined
And we always give ourselves
One more time
